To help us with our strategic thinking during this time of lockdown, we have engaged with Grant Ashfield of “Leadership Works”, who has previously led the management team through the work of Patrick Lencioni and the advantages of a healthy and smart organization (“The Advantage”, “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team”, “The Ideal Team Player”). Amongst other things, Grant challenges us to think of a new “rallying cry”.

We regularly receive news of young Connor Buck (Grade 11) as he continues to rise through the ranks in the swimming world. Swimming South Africa has just released the SA National rankings as at the end of the truncated season and as can be seen, Connor has had a good year – evidenced by his excellent rankings. Well done, young man. Your dedication and commitment to your sport are wonderful to see.
‘Begin with the End in Mind’ is habit no. 2 of Stephen Covey’s International best-selling book, ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’. This poses a serious paradox with regards to our current situation. How can we possibly navigate our way to success, if we can’t currently see the end of Covid-19? There is however some respite if we apply some of the principles in Covey’s book.
FILM ACADEMY COVID CHALLENGE
The students in the Film Academy were all invited to produce their own short horror films during the COVID 19 lockdown. Much like the annual Clifton Film Festival – the “Ogres” – we recognize all of the effort and skill that goes into making short films.
