Tell us a bit about what you currently do, including where you studied, roles you have held, and what your work entails.

I am currently a part-time marketing student at the Durban University of Technology and the Co-Founder of AfriWealth Holdings. Most importantly, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer of Dream Big Stay Humble, a role that truly speaks to my passion. Since finishing high school, I have been fortunate to gain hands-on experience across the events, marketing, and advertising space, from sales and promotions to brand ambassadorship and even bartending. Each role has shaped my understanding of the industry and helped build practical skills along the way.

These experiences led me to start AfriWealth Holdings, under which AfriWealth Events was born. We focus on creating memorable team-building experiences, corporate and private events, as well as school fun days, all designed to bring people together in meaningful ways.

Alongside this, I manage the day-to-day operations of Dream Big Stay Humble, a youth-focused organisation dedicated to skills development, particularly in STEM and coding. Beyond these core areas, we run a range of programmes aimed at empowering and uplifting young people, helping to drive real, positive change within our communities.

How did you end up where you are now? Tell us a bit about the journey along the way.

Honestly, my journey to where I am today has all been by God’s grace. It hasn’t been perfect, but what’s kept me going is my commitment to never give up – on life or on myself. When I finished high school, I had no clue what the future held or what I really wanted to do. What I did know was that I love helping people and bringing them together. That passion for connection and community naturally led me to the work I do today.

Along the way, there have been ups and downs, and each one has taught me something new and brought me closer to my purpose. I know there’s still a lot ahead, but I feel more confident than ever that I’m on the right path – and I’m excited for what’s next.

What are some of the good/fond memories you forged during your time at Clifton?

There are honestly too many great memories to list, but I’m proud to say I left my mark on every corner of Clifton life. As a scholarship student, I was given incredible opportunities – and I embraced them fully. In leadership, I grew from being a primary school class representative to Deputy Head Boy in 2020, War Cry Leader in 2019 and 2020, and captain of various sports teams.

On the sports field, I poured my heart into representing Clifton in the Basketball and Soccer first teams, always striving to compete at my best. And within the school community, experiences like serving as President of the Interact Club, singing in the Choir, and performing with the Dramatics team across multiple productions helped shape who I am today.

Each of these roles brought unforgettable moments and countless good times. While it’s impossible to pick just one, what matters most is that I embraced every facet of Clifton life. The memories I made there will always hold a special place in my heart.

Was this a career path you wanted to pursue when you were still at school, or when did this love for what you do originate?

My time at Clifton’s Interact Club really got me involved in the community, and it left a mark that’s stayed with me ever since. From Grade 8, community service became a big part of my life, and by matric, I’d clocked over 150 hours. That’s where my passion for helping others really started.

After high school, I did drift away from it a bit, but life – and God’s guidance – brought me back, reminding me why I love what I do and reigniting my drive to make a difference.

Who or what (experience had the biggest impact on your life while still a schoolboy at Clifton?

I’d like to give an honorary mention to Bradley Evans (Class of 2017), who was my mentor back in Grade 8 while he was in Grade 11. Brad encouraged me to put myself out there, get involved in everything I could, and use those experiences to discover who I am. Taking his advice to heart, I embraced every opportunity Clifton had to offer – and those experiences truly helped me find myself.

What do you attribute your successes in life to? What is your personal ethos or creed?

I attribute my successes to a strong foundation rooted in family, health, and wealth – not only in a material sense, but as measures of personal growth, fulfilment, and purpose.

Family keeps me grounded, health keeps me moving forward, and wealth – through experience and opportunity – drives me to build a meaningful life. At the heart of my personal ethos is a commitment to seizing every opportunity to grow, serve others, and stay true to my values, trusting that every experience, whether good or challenging, is shaping me into who I am meant to be.

What advice would you share with yourself as a schoolboy, and what message would you give to other Clifton Boys to inspire involvement in the Old Boys’ Association?

If I could offer advice to my younger self, it would be to embrace every challenge and opportunity without fear of failure. Stay true to your values, keep pushing to be involved, and remember that every experience, whether a success or a setback, has something valuable to teach you. Don’t be afraid to ask for guidance or to take the lead when needed, as each role and responsibility helps you discover more about yourself. Above all, keep faith in your journey and trust that even uncertain steps are leading you toward a meaningful purpose.

That same mindset applies to my message to other Clifton Boys. I believe there is always more we can do, and I encourage fellow Old Boys to reconnect and become more actively involved in the Old Boys’ Association. It is a wonderful opportunity to give back, strengthen our community, and continue the legacy we all helped build. Together, we can support one another and make a lasting impact for future generations of Clifton Boys.

What's next for you, what are your plans going forward?

First and foremost, my immediate goal is to graduate and solidify my academic foundation. Beyond that, I’m focused on building and growing my businesses, refining my craft, and continuing to develop both professionally and personally. I’m driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact, not only in my own life but in the lives of those around me. The journey ahead is about sharpening my skills, embracing new opportunities, and using the lessons I’ve learned to create lasting change. I’m genuinely excited about the future and the opportunity to reach new heights, knowing that every step forward helps build a lasting legacy.

Any last thoughts?

I’d like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of my journey, especially at Clifton. Thank you for the support, the lessons, and the encouragement along the way. God bless.

Thank you, Ofentse, for taking the time to share your journey and insights with us. Your story is both inspiring and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through commitment, resilience, and staying true to one’s values.
